Why are electronic locking systems undergoing a transformation today?
Today, keyless access and mobile reception are the focus when it comes to efficient staff deployment. Accordingly, online locking systems are now needed to open doors remotely. Keyless access, or door opening is facilitated via a smartphone or PIN code. The traditional RFID cards are falling somewhat behind in this regard.
How does the mc³ solution integrate into the guest journey?
Our GUEST JOURNEY is designed as a “back-to-basics” solution: Fill out a digital registration form, receive a digital key fob, and simply go to your room on the day of arrival; you can even leave your smartphone in your pocket. All it takes is two email exchanges between the hotel and the guest, and the information is transmitted via a simple online form.
Why the change from traditional to mobile reception?
This ensures that all guests, including event and tour groups, are directed to the self-service check-in, eliminating the need for on-site check-in kiosks. This saves time, which can be used to enhance the guest experience.
Why is a Building ECO System so important for investors?
Sustainability ensures compliance with regulatory and government requirements, making the investment future-proof. More efficient energy use adds value and ensures greater long-term value retention. And by integrating buildings into a functioning ecosystem, they become more resilient to market fluctuations and technological change, as they are more adaptable.
When is smart home technology used, and when is smart building technology used?
Both smart home and smart building technology are used to make living and working environments more comfortable, safer, and more energy-efficient through digitalization and automation. The main difference lies in the scope of application: Smart home refers to individual residential units (mostly private houses and apartments), while smart building encompasses entire buildings and their infrastructure. Smart building technology is therefore typically used in new construction or comprehensive renovations.
Which smart building features can be implemented in a retrofit project?
Smart meters can be retrofitted to help identify opportunities for energy savings. Another key element is the use of sensors and occupancy detectors, which help monitor system status. It is also important that all individual systems can be networked and integrated via a central dashboard.
How does the use of smart technologies result in measurable energy efficiency?
The heating in the guest rooms is controlled according to the occupancy schedule and guest-specific settings. These include day and night temperatures, as well as day and night schedules. Guests can actively help save energy by using the ECO function when they are temporarily away or when they check out.
In what ways does smart building technology directly impact sustainability?
Systems adjust heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and lighting in real time to match actual usage. The data enables predictive maintenance. The costs associated with heating, cooling, and cleaning can be minimized through the use of occupancy sensors.
A healthy indoor environment—what factors contribute to it?
A healthy indoor environment includes factors such as avoiding direct electrical wiring in the immediate vicinity of the bed, using modern HCL lighting to positively influence the circadian rhythm, and installing ventilation systems.
What does the digital guest experience look like today throughout their journey?
Guest communication takes place at key points along the guest’s journey. Before check-in, guests are contacted via our ONLINE TRAVEL INFO platform, where they can also share their preferences for their stay, such as their arrival time with the hotel. During their stay, the hotel can communicate with guests via instant messages on the TV or through the STAY APP.
What does the room service concept look like for a diverse clientele?
One of the most common guest complaints is that room controls are often difficult to understand. These controls are frequently too complicated, partly due to the variety of guest types. Especially during shorter stays, guests are unwilling to first learn how to use the controls or to try multiple times. Our control concept is designed for versatility, featuring simple buttons, a Flex Panel, or a web app on the guest’s own device. It’s also important that buttons and panels are located exactly where something needs to be switched or adjusted—though, in reality, there isn’t much to adjust, since SMART LIVING features many automated functions.
How does smart building technology support various operational models and mixed-use developments?
The various operational concepts are supported by the integration of building services and a shared digital infrastructure. This makes it possible to implement mixed-use developments while taking sustainability into account. Sensors, which provide the data needed for operations, are also essential for automation.
