As shown in the picture on the left, wall panels often look like in hotel rooms. To be honest, do you understand every symbol behind them? Ultimately, guests often have to test what's happening and then get confused by changes in condition - which often leads to complaints.
For the lamps in the room we keep the operation classically simple: A button or switch for on-off of the respective lamp and a second for central off of the lighting. With push-buttons, a dimming function can also be integrated by pressing the button for a longer time.
At least one Smart Panel in the room is indispensable for the individual control of lighting conditions and climate. Lighting can also be changed in matter of light temperature and brightness - all with voice guidance to ensure simple and understandable operation.
Modern people with an affinity for technology love to be able to control everything in their rooms via apps. The Smart Room Control App is ready for use on the guest devices. The highlight - in the tablet version a preview mode is built in, in order to be able to regard special light moods already before activation.
If you cannot or do not want to use a guest device, you can make changes to the room configuration at any time using the Smart TV App. The app always remains responsive in operation and appearance.
The most modern form of operation in the room is voice control. You do not need an extra echo device in the room. Speech recognition is an optional feature of the Room Controller. The Smart Panels can be ordered either with microphone or additionally with loudspeaker.
Welcome lighting can be a mood lighting that reflects the guest's favourite colour, or a selected scenario by the interior designer.
Basic lighting is activated when entering the room. The orientation could be biological (HCL) or scene-related (design).
If they are not part of the basic lighting, lamps in the room do not have to be HCL-based. But low voltage LED based versions should be chosen.
Lamps are usually operated conventionally, that means buttons and switches for simple switching on and off. The dimming function can also be implemented with buttons.
Human Centric Lighting (HCL) or biologically effective lighting regulates the light temperature depending on the time of year and day - from 2500 Kelvin warm light to 6500 Kelvin cold light. On a wired basis, LED strips are preferred. Downlights and lamps are already available on the market, but they are still very expensive.
The cheaper way to obtain tunable white lighting conditions is to use radio-based systems such as those offered by Philips with the HUE series. However, this Zigbee radio technology does not comply with the electrical biology guidelines and should be avoided for special green rooms.
For the bathroom, there is a wide product range of light mirrors with HCL technology; this allows you to create a daylight feeling for your guests in the morning.
You can control the lighting conditions (light temperature - brightness - light colour) with our Smart Panels, via app on the guest device or on the TV.
With RGBW LED strips or Philips HUE lamps, any kind of colour mood can be created - which of course should be selectable for the guest.
Several hotels declare a new room category with Mood Room. Individual colour design with LED stripes creates a special look in the room.
Emergency lighting is mandatory - in the event of an emergency, we supply two spots in the corridor with emergency power plus the access point for Internet access and, of course, the door panel for access.
You should really do without halogen lamps today. For ecological and economic reasons, only LED lighting should be used and consequently the corresponding light sources.

In the minimum equipment but standard equipment of all rooms you should pay attention to a voltage-free sleeping area; i.e. no sockets or 230 V lamps near the bed. Lamps can be realised via low voltage and the desired USB power supply can also be provided via our Room Controller in the 12V range instead of a conventional solution.
The access point, if each room is equipped with a device, can be deactivated via TV App. Alternatively, you should provide a cable-based Internet connection. The demand from guests should not be underestimated, as there is now a well-frequented booking portal for rooms without WLAN.
The next step for radiation reduction is a switch that disconnects the entire room from the mains. This is a solution we offer in combination with the Room Controller. The guest simply switches off any voltage in the room by pushing a button on the bed. Of course, this only makes sense if the affected rooms have been appropriately isolated from radiation.
According to the electro-biological studies, radio technology such as DECT and ZIGBEE should also be avoided in rooms with reduced radiation levels.
Rooms with low electromagnetic imissions deserve to have their own label. This is already valid with the admission. Local authorities already assign green house numbers to ecological households.

Biologically effective lighting has a proven positive effect on biorhythms and is therefore used today in schools, hospitals, retirement homes and conference rooms. Your guests should also benefit from this in their rooms.

The Room Controller is installed in every room. However, a solution with allocation of two rooms is also possible. The compact design requires only little space within a DIN rail distributor.
The system unit is a proprietary development of mc³. It is primarily designed for a modular and expandable structure. This makes it possible to respond flexibly to new structural requirements, both today and tomorrow. Slots are provided for a network switch board (thus only a CAT 7 cable is required as a room supply line) or a voice recognition board (for voice control in the room).

Emergency operation in the room (2 downlights in the hallway, access point, door panel) is either guaranteed by a battery pack or better implemented via a POE line to a storey UPS.
We do not use KNX technology, but can act as an independent subset within a building KNX solution and communicate via KNX protocol. The decision against KNX is not a decision against the technology, but owed to the individual and personalized requirement profile of a Smart Room. Under these aspects, a KNX solution becomes very installation-intensive and therefore expensive. But we also want to win customers from the budget segment for a Smart Room solution.
We support all common protocols in building technology as shown in the diagram on the left. But also protocols from the automotive industry like CAN-Bus and M-Bus are supported, which allows the use of the controller also in mobile homes.
The Building Management System in the hotel has changed a bit. In the past, this was the basic console with which a house technician could control everything both in the building and in the hotel room. In the age of personalized hotel rooms, however, the guest configuration has priority. While only read access is granted in a checked-in room, commands can also be received via the BACNet protocol in a checked-out room, e.g. for climate changes.
